ERA was established over 45 years ago by Father Gaffney of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, gathering a group of passionate individuals together to discuss the need for emergency help for area residents.

Soon after, individuals from Resurrection Lutheran Church in Levittown joined the discussion. The ERA grew very quickly as volunteers from all over the area began donating and collecting food, as well as other emergency items in their own homes - preparing for any possible needs.

Bucks County health and social service agencies heard of our group and began to refer individuals facing emergency situations to our food pantry. By the 1980's, the group was well established – and so was the need for our services.

The United Christian Church donated a space to consolidate storage and allow one unified location for distribution. However, as our group continued to grow and the need for our services became greater, the time had come to move to a new location, to better accommodate our size and growing needs.

We now serve more than 26,000 meals to an average of 1,700 people each month and continue to be run 100% by volunteers, operating with food and monetary donations from individuals, churches, businesses, community organizations and grants from the state of Pennsylvania.

As we continue to grow and aim to help every individual in need Within Lower Bucks County, we offer numerous ways to get involved at our Food Pantry and infinite room for growth.
